The inspiration for Aulenti came from a desire to create an office system that responds to architectural sensibilities. The designers aimed to evoke a sense of lightness and dynamic suspension, reminiscent of modern constructions. The result is a desk system that conveys an overall aerial impression, underpinned by reassuring stability.
What sets Aulenti apart from other office desks is its combination of functional details, techniques, and technology. It is equipped with features that cater to the contemporary user's needs, such as an integrated wire box, moveable trays for personal accessories, and a modesty panel. The robust structure is complemented by high-quality materials, with the top finished using a vacuum process that ensures cleaner pores and smoother textures.
The desk is realized using particle board MDF without formaldehyde, finished with natural walnut wood and metro grey water-based coating. The veneer is applied using vacuum technology, a testament to the designers' commitment to quality and detail. The desk's dimensions are 2800 x 2250 x 760, providing ample space for executive tasks.
The design process was a meticulous one, taking over a year to define the brief and the features the final product must include. Several months were dedicated to design proposals to establish the guidelines that would lead to the final appearance of the desk. The final step extended the design to the meeting table and the file cabinet, ensuring a cohesive office system.
The Aulenti desk was awarded the Golden A' Furniture Design Award in 2018, a prestigious accolade granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that advance art, science, design, and technology. The award is a testament to the designers' prodigy and wisdom, and their ability to significantly impact the world with their desirable characteristics.
In conclusion, the Aulenti executive desk is more than just a piece of furniture; it is a model for modern office spaces. By delivering technology innovation, quality details, and humanized design in a poetic way, it realizes the interaction between technology and design, offering a unique blend of strength and beauty.
